What antivirus software do i download and use?

Well while there are so many paid antivirus  software out there, there  are also the so called free versions which are pretty good, notably the Microsoft security essentials and the Avira antivirus software.

You can download the Microsoft essentials from this link here. Make sure to choose the bit of your operating system, there are 64 bit and 32 bit operating system.

You can download the free version of avira from this link here. Please make sure to choose the one that says Avira Antivirus.By the way the avira is my pick, i have used this personally for a very long time.. Please give it a try and you will not be disappointed!

Here you will learn how to manage the power option on Windows 7 so that it doesn’t hibernate when you close the lid and all that. Managing the Windows 10 update.

You should be able to manage the Windows update without worrying about Windows delaying you or shutting down on you when it is being used. The screenshot below depicts how this is managed on Windows 10, but it might defer based on individual preferences. You can disable the Windows update, however this is not recommended especially if you are a home user, you can always re-enable the Windows update.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next you will  change the active hours, from there you can choose what time of the day you prefer for Windows update to start.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For advance users, the Windows update on Windows 10 can be disabled and re-enabled

Click on run and type services.msc

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next you will scroll down to find the Windows update, once found double click on it and choose “disabled” as shown below.

 

Managing the Windows 7 update

Sometimes  you will need to tell the Windows when and what time to download the windows updates, by default, the Windows’s update is set to download and install automatically.

But i will show you how to manage the updates on Windows 7 and Windows 10 especially if you are a student and probably have some school work to do, even if you are a business owner trying to catch up and go home at the weekend or probably doing something on excel worksheet.

So let’s us look at this on Windows 7

This is how to find out the version of Windows.

On Windows 10  Right Click on the left and click on the system  see screenshot below

You can also see the type of processor and the system type.The screenshot below depicts how  this is done on windows 7

The versions of Windows 7

Windows 7 is available in different versions to meet specific needs of the consumers.

The main versions of Windows 7 are:

  • Windows 7 Ultimate: This has all the features of Windows operating systems, it also has the BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  • Windows 7 Enterprise: Available for customers who purchased software assurance from Microsoft, it also has the BitLocker Drive Encryption, there is no retail copy for this version.
  • Windows 7 Professional: Well used in the corporate environment.
  • Windows 7 Home Premium: Mostly for home users, joining a domain and the group policy settings are not available on this version.

Some other versions of Windows 7 are:

  1. Windows 7 N & K Editions:This edition is only sold in South Korea
  2. Windows 7 Starter: This is limited in features
  3. Windows 7 Home Basic: This is mostly found in some developing countries

Windows 8. 8.1 and Windows 10 were added not long ago.
